Kate doesn't normally go through the cemetery, but when she glances through the trees and sees Chris, she stops and watches him for a second. He's looking at something and she wonders if he knows someone in there who died, if maybe she should just leave him alone, but she's never been super good at that and so, after a couple seconds, she opens the gate and heads inside.

"Hey," she says, making sure to keep her voice soft. This isn't exactly the time for exuberant greetings, she thinks.
