Chris knows it's not, strictly speaking, true. He doesn't know if he's going anywhere. There are a few things he knows for sure though— that this is it for him, Darrow or somewhere else like it, and that he can't go home— but whether or not he gets to stick around here is something none of them really know until it's already happened.

"Me neither," Chris says, and he reaches down to grab Cissie's hand, lacing her fingers with his. Even if he didn't think this was it for him and that he can't be sure he'll end up another place like this, what he's said would be true.
